Sunday at St. Mark

Holy Baptism – Fletcher Ellis Fee will be baptized at the 8:00 A.M. service today.  Fletcher’s parents are Jeffery and Tanya Fee. Sponsors are Brad Melton and Derek Crooks.  Kylie Josephine Hudson will be baptized today at the 9:30 A.M. service.  Kylie’s parents are Chris and Stacey Hudson.  Sponsors are Jeanine Pilbin, Barry Tope, and Bryan Jossendale.

Summer choir dates — This morning and Sunday, August 10.  Rehearsal at 8:30 worship at 9:30 A.M.  Adults, youth, children of all ages and experience welcome!!!

College Youth Gathering will be at Pastor Chris’ house this afternoon from 4:30-6:00 P.M.   All current college students are invited to join us as we grill out and catch up with one another.  We will be holding a college event every Sunday in July.  We look forward to seeing everyone there!

This week at St. Mark

Habitat for Humanity – Come sign-up for a day working to make someone’s dream of owning a home a reality.  St. Mark is scheduled to work the following Saturdays: July 12, and August 9.  Please sign up for one or more dates in Fellowship Hall.  A head count must be given one week prior to the date in order for lunch to be prepared.  For more information contact Jan Stringer at 815-397-5860.

Magic Waters Lutheran Churches Youth & Family Fun Night Monday, July 14, from 5:15-9:00P.M. Cost is $7 in advance. Ticket Price includes free tube rental. St. Mark Youth

High School Youth are invited to “just chill” next Wednesday night July 9, from 7:00 to 8:30 P.M.  Meet Brandon Nolan (summer intern) and Melinda Alekna here at St. Mark.

Homeless Night – Wednesday July 16 the High School youth is invited to come out to the church at 5:00 P.M. to help sort food for the Rockford rescue mission. This event will be followed by a meal and the infamous “Homeless Night” so find the biggest card box you can find, and bring it to church for a night to remember as we sleep outside in our boxes and enjoy one another’s company


St. Mark Notes

Cards needed!  Deb Carlson has requested cards and letters be sent during her seven week stay at Mayo’s Clinic in Minnesota.  Her address is: Kahler Suites & Inn 9 NW Third Ave., room 338, Rochester, MN 55902.  Jim Boeger has also requested cards and letter be sent during his six to eight week stay at St. Mary’s Hospital Attention: Jim Boeger, 1216 Second Street S.W., Rochester, MN 55902.  Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers during this very difficult time. 

Mark your calendars for Rally Sunday, the kick-off of Sunday school, on September 7 at 9:30 A.M. Children 3 years old by September 1 through sixth grade are invited. There is no fee for Sunday school.

St. Mark Preschool is accepting applications for part-time teachers for the 2008-2009 school year.  Contact Joyce Bornkamp Preschool Director at 815-398-7610.
 
Outreach is collecting food for the Rockford Rescue Mission.  Food needed includes: instant potatoes, rice, cream soups, cooking oil, sugar, oatmeal (not small packets), cake mixes, pre-sweetened powdered drinks, egg noodles, mayonnaise, salad dressings, BBQ and teriyaki sauces, and 8 oz. foam cups.  These items will be used in preparation of meals for Rescue Mission clients therefore large containers of any of the items listed will be welcomed and appreciated.  Share your blessings and bring some food on July 27.

The Outreach Committee needs brown paper bags for their food drives.  You can place them in the food barrel in Fellowship Hall.
 
The Red Cross Packets for the Homeless are still an ongoing project for the Ruth and Miriam Circles, thanks to the generosity of St. Mark members.  The needs for June are: conditioner, deodorant, combs, lotion, and toothbrushes.

Diakonia is a two-year educational and spiritual formation program for laity. Diakonia emphasizes the vocation of all Christians to serve as Christ has served us. eScrip Community Card:  St. Mark has just received a deposit of $56 on June 3.  Thank you for your support of the eScrip program!  eScrip is a program to St. Mark members who wish to generate additional income for St. Mark.   To receive your card, please stop by the church office and see Cindy Brown.

St. Mark Preschool Registration – Spaces are still available for registering your child for the St. Mark Preschool program. Applications will be available outside the preschool office.  Please complete the form and return it with the registration fee to St. Mark Preschool. You can also register on line at www.stmarklc.net.  Please call Joyce Bornkamp, Director of Preschool at 398-7610, if you have any questions.
